- VITALAS is a use-case driven project that aims at providing a pre-industrial prototype system dedicated to intelligent access services to multimedia professional archives that would provide the consumer with new technological functionalities.
- VITALAS will provide advanced solution for indexing, searching and accessing large scale of non previously (or partly) annotated content.
- VITALAS will also seek to make novel contributions in cross-media (audio/speech, video, image, text) indexing and content enrichment, and will use different interactive retrieval methods (query refinement with log files, RFB, context adaptation).
- VITALAS has contributed to the development of the Open-source Multimedia Information Processing Platform WebLab
VITALAS at Medientage
VITALAS was represented by IRT at the Medientage München (Munich Media Convention and Fair), 28th to 30th October 2009. Demonstrations were performed providing more valuable feedback from users.
VITALAS Presence in IBC Exhibition
The VITALAS Project was present at the IBC Exhibition in Amsterdam, 11-15 September 2009.
A VITALAS desmonstrator was on display at the EBU Village (European Broadcasting Union).
VITALAS at CeBIT09, Hannover, Germany, 6th - 8th March 2009
VITALAS prototype has been presented during the CeBIT, the world's largest and most renowned trade fair for the world of IT and telecommunications, on Fraunhofer booth.
Visitors discovered the latest version of VITALAS integrated demonstrator, and had the opportunity to express their expectations concerning the possible Exploitation avenues of VITALAS prototype.

VITALAS at "ICT 2008" event, 25-27 November, Lyon, France
VITALAS project presented its first multimedia search engine prototype during one of the largest research events in Europe in 2008: the "ICT 2008" event, organised by the Information Society and media Directorate-General in conjunction with the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, and with the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Employment.
The event hosted leading visionaries from academia and industry and addressed topics as diverse as Europe's role in shaping the future internet, ICT's contribution to advancing the sustainability agenda and alternative research paths for future ICT components and systems.
At this occasion, the November 2008 issue of eStrategies Europe Magazine (Vol 2 No 4 pp.84-85), has been distributed to visitors, who could read an article related to VITALAS, entitled " The search goes on for more efficient retrieval methods ".
