Welcome

VITALAS is a use-case driven project that aims at providing a pre-industrial prototype system dedicated to intelligent access services to multimedia professional archives that would provide the consumer with new  technological functionalities.

VITALAS will provide advanced solution for indexing, searching and accessing large scale of non previously (or partly) annotated content.

VITALAS will also seek to make novel contributions in cross-media (audio/speech, video, image, text) indexing and content enrichment, and will use different interactive retrieval methods (query refinement with log files,
RFB, context adaptation).

AFP (Agence France-Presse) will join VITALAS project
In an article published on 19/10/2007 in les echos.fr, Nozha Boujemaa, scientific coordinator of the project, announced that the AFP will be involved in the development of the VITALAS multimedia content search engine. "We want to know how professionals use the results of our work to have experts feedback. The first tests will begin during the 2nd semester 2008". "AFP will act as beta-tester on these new technologies. Such a search engine would help us to index semi-automatically all our pictures" declared Denis Teyssou, editor in chief of Medialab at AFP.
